Week 2

This week I choose the material that I will use in my landscape. Which is resin.

The reason why I chose the resin chemical is that it wraps every material you touch on it in a clean layer and gives it a mold shape. Since I have more work on texture in my research pages that I made in my sketchbook, I wanted to emphasise this feature more and I thought that the resin material would be the best material to hold these texture studies together by giving a mold.

Although resin seems to be very easy material to use, it is a chemical that need attention with its smell and consistency. Because its consistency is really annoying, it is sticky and under some conditions it doesn’t dry completely, which means that it needs to be done from the beginning, so we can say that it is a waste of material. Although it was frustrating and challenging, making a project with a material that I had never used before thought me a lot. I learned new methods and learned from my mistakes. At least I learned what mistakes I should not make in my next step.

On the other hand, I started making my muse designs. There isn’t actually a specific person that I’m inspired by as my muse. The one piece I was inspired by is aliens and their anatomy. As far as we can find from the movies, a big head and a bony face shape. Also, humongous eyes plays a big part es well. I created a muse by blending all of these features and adding my own aesthetic. The muse work that I have done is not the final product yet ‘maybe’. I would like to make some additions or changes in the coming sessions, but I am very happy with the progress I have achieved.

I can’t predict what kind of ideas and innovations await me in the coming weeks, of course, but my plan that I want to complete in the next week is to give a clear shape to my 3D works and complete them as well as my muse.
